Organizational Happiness

Following in the footsteps of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, The Maker of Happiness.

It was not expected for the question raised in the title of this book to be considered by any scholar or researcher before His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai, created the world's first ministry of happiness.

In this book, I have followed in the footsteps of His Highness in his books, lectures and speeches I found in all media with regard to organizational happiness. I am convinced that happiness for His Highness is an integrated construct composed by deep thought and based on solid foundations, with a scientific approach delineated with practical initiatives.

This book consists of five chapters: in the first chapter, I deal with organizational happiness, presenting the concepts by the thinkers and philosophers from the East and the West. In the second chapter, I address happiness from an analytical perspective, showing the relationship between happiness on the one hand and positive energy and productivity, on the other hand, with scientific analysis of happiness and basic virtues.

In the third chapter, I address happiness within organizational framework and the question of achieving happiness in organizations. The fourth chapter deals with happiness as illustrated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the maker of happiness both in thought and in methodology. I have been keen to draw practical lessons and examples from the experience accumulated of my work at many of the leading national organizations, especially Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University.

The fifth and final chapter of the book concludes with Alawar Scale for Organizational Happiness, a scale to serve as an indicator of happiness within organizations for those who wish to implement it at the organizational level.

It is my great hope that this book will be a step towards greater happiness for a happy nation that is destined for a happier future.
